The Problem and Need for Youth Empowerment and Enrichment Programs

Real L.O.V.E. further recognizes a problem plaguing our young people today that is well documented and demands our attention and assistance….Juvenile Delinquency.

Juvenile delinquency is a problem in our nation as a whole and in Fort Worth, Texas as well.  Tarrant County Juvenile Services (TCJS) receives juvenile referrals from law enforcement agencies, schools, or probation departments on a daily basis.  The 2015 Tarrant County Juvenile Services Report indicates that delinquent conduct committed by juvenile children ages 10 – 16 include Class A & B misdemeanors and felony grade offenses.  Also Class C misdemeanors transferred from a justice or municipal court  that include public intoxication, truancy, running away, inhalant abuse, and violation of school disciplinary codes that result in expulsion.  Yes, juvenile delinquency is a problem in our community.  However, the Real L.O.V.E. organization is in agreement with the TCJS report in that, community programs have been successful in helping steer these youth back on a successful track.

TCJS reported that Community Service Restitution (CSR) is a program in which juveniles perform a period of community service as a condition of probation for offenses which resulted in property loss or personal injury. This program constitutes a strategy to help juveniles assume responsibility for their actions while being responsive to community and victim concerns. It also provides a positive experience in community involvement and socialization.

It is very tragic that so many young people today face challenges that land them in the juvenile court system.  It is all the more reasons for the Real L.O.V.E. organization to continue to do what we do, and that is to love, encourage, and empower young people where they are.

Empowerment is a need.  The benefits of empowering young people is well documented and can be defined as helping one develop a sense of self-confidence; helping one overcome feelings of powerlessness; helping to energize one to take action; or helping one to mobilize and motivate them to accomplish a task.  So, in a nutshell, it is the means through which one assists someone to succeed in life.

Real L.O.V.E. wants to see our young people succeed in life and is passionate about empowering young people in our community. We believe that when the young people are empowered, our society becomes a good place for all to live. They will assist in the economic activities of the society where they find themselves.  And in turn families and entire nations will benefit.
